Dr. Gary J. Margolis has 30+ years of experience in law enforcement, public safety, and security. Throughout his career, Gary has served as Chief of Police for the University of Vermont, and has been called upon by US Departments of Justice, Education and Homeland Security for his expertise on campus security; crisis response and communications; security technology application; emergency response and recovery planning; and preventing sexual and gender violence. He was also appointed by former Vermont Governor Douglas to the Homeland Security Advisory Committee, and has been a leader within the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA). Prior to founding Social Sentinel, he co-founded Margolis Healy & Associates, LLC, a professional services firm specializing in campus safety, security, and regulatory compliance for higher education and K-12. This experience, along with being a parent and witnessing the overwhelming swell of social media, led him to develop Social Sentinel, a groundbreaking solution that provides insights into potential threats shared publicly on social media and other open source platforms.
