Social Sentinel and the National School Boards Association (NSBA) are thrilled to announce the four winners of their DonorsChoose gift card drawing. The two organizations teamed up at the 2019 NSBA Conference in Philadelphia earlier this month to help support classroom projects for schools in need. Social Sentinel and NSBA elected to use DonorsChoose gift cards to ensure funds go directly to projects selected by teachers and school administrators and to encourage community members to lend their support. The nonprofit DonorsChoose stimulates crowdfunding for school projects, allowing donations to have an immediate impact on classrooms.
To date, 81 percent of public schools in the United States have had at least one project request on DonorsChoose.org, and more than 1 million projects have been funded.
DonorsChoose.org is a United States–based nonprofit organization that allows individuals to donate directly to public school classroom projects. Founded in 2000 by former public school teacher Charles Best, DonorsChoose.org was among the first civic crowdfunding platforms of its kind. The organization has been given Charity Navigator’s highest rating every year since 2005.
The National School Boards Association (NSBA) is the leading advocate for public education and supports equity and excellence in public education through school board leadership. NSBA believes education is a civil right necessary to the dignity and freedom of the American people, and all children should have equal access to an education that maximizes his or her individual potential. The association represents state school boards associations and their more than 90,000 local school board members throughout the U.S. For more information, visit www.nsba.org.
